about me

yogi healer in tree pose

Symona Stans

From a young age I knew that all I wanted to do in this life was help people. So I pursued this professionally in the only field that seemed fitting and found myself with a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Cornell University and then a master’s degree in social work from UCLA. While completing my postgraduate education, however, I went through the most difficult time of my life which ultimately led to an unexpected spiritual awakening. In this time, I felt that the field I was in did not resonate deeply with me, despite being called to help others - it simply did not feel like the right path to do so. It was while all this was happening that I felt strongly called to reiki, remembering an experience I had when I was younger. As a teenager I sprained my ankle horribly. Multiple tendons were torn, I was on crutches for many weeks, and I could not put even slight weight on the injury. By fate, an incredible energy healer who happened to be visiting from Japan came into my life, seemingly out of nowhere. Despite being a teenager and not really believing in energy healing, he miraculously restored my ankle’s function fully. Within minutes, I was able to walk as if there was never even an injury. This experience stuck with me, reminding me that there is more to this universe than most are aware of. Remembering this, I returned to reiki to find my own healing and persist through the great challenges life sent my way. And here I am. After fully healing myself through reiki and yoga, and listening to my inner knowing that this is the path through which I can carry out the highest good, all I wish is to help others find healing as well.

I am a certified Usui Reiki Practitioner (Ksenia Luki) and Hatha Yoga Teacher (RYT 200 - Tattva Yogashala, Rishikesh, India). I’ve also completed an intensive sound healing training (Resonant Soundscapes, Micah Sheiner). My experience working as a therapist and degrees in psychology and social work mean that my approach is trauma-informed and I am able to be sensitive to whatever a client brings or experiences during a session. I also have an extensive daily spiritual yoga asana, pranayama, and meditation practice which enhances my ability to channel and perceive subtle energies when giving a reiki session. My greatest inspiration comes from the wisdom of Ancient India and its many great Self-realized Masters of which I am forever a student.
